What’s the difference between mixed and co-rec?
In mixed, we require that at all times 3 men and 3 women are on the field per team. The team that starts the point on the North end zone (closest to the entrance) determines if the seventh player is a woman or man. In order to facilitate these numbers, we are prioritizing women sign-ups in this league. All women will be placed on a team up to 28 players (7 per team). Any men in a group with a woman will be placed on a team and remaining spots will be filled by men based on when payment was received. For this league we are aiming for 52 players (4 teams).

In co-rec, there is not a set number of women or men on the field at any time nor a set number of women on each team. The north end zone will still set gender matching. Teams will be filled first-come, first-serve up to 156 players (12 teams).

Why are we having one mixed and one co-rec league instead of two co-rec leagues, like we did last winter?
Ann Arbor Ultimate is moving towards a system where we regularly offer mixed opportunities alongside our standard co-rec opportunities in order to be in line with the organization’s updated Mission and Vision (see online here). We believe this shift will be productive in terms of creating a better playing experience for our members and will address some important gender equity concerns in our community.

See you on the fields,

A2U Directors
