Summer League 2017 Youth Summer Camp (Mixed)

The Sport

Ultimate is a fast paced, non-contact, disc throwing, team sport that everyone loves playing. It combines the action of soccer with skills and strategy from basketball and football. And it is one of the fastest growing sports in the US!

Camp

At the camp, players will learn basic throws, catching, cutting, defending, and team strategy, along with the rules of play and “Spirit of the Game” (self-officiation & sportsmanship). Instructors place an equal emphasis on learning self-officiation & sharing a positive attitude with learning skills & strategy. The camp will run from 9am-4pm, and the daily schedule will include lots of playing, basic ultimate skills & knowledge, a lunch break, and tons of fun!

Who Can Play

Boys and girls (co-ed / mixed), must be ages 9-14 on the first day of camp.

What is Included

A disc! Win prizes throughout the week! Snack food. Top level instruction, with an equal emphasis on sharing a positive attitude, self-officiation (knowing how & when to use rules), and skills & strategy. Excellent, safe field sites!

What to Bring

Bring lots of energy and a positive attitude! A water bottle, cleats/sneakers, healthy snacks & lunch, sunscreen, and appropriate clothing for the weather.

Camp Rules

Rules are in place to keep everyone safe and focused on fun. Some basic rules - show up and leave on time, bring what’s on the “What to Bring” list, listen to the instructors, treat everyone with a positive attitude.

Weather

If heavy rain occurs and/or standing water is on fields, activities for that day will be delayed or cancelled. If visible lightning occurs, players will move inside until 20 minutes has passed (after the most recent lightning). If the forecast predicts heavy rain or lightning, activities for the day may be delayed or cancelled in advance.

Registration

If your child is new to Ann Arbor Ultimate, you will have to create an account for them on the website and fill out basic information. Camp registration operates on a first-come, first-served basis. If you pay by check, registration will be complete once Ann Arbor Ultimate receives your check. Otherwise, your child will be registered immediately. This is relevant for waitlist priority. If a camp session does not have 15 registered players by June 1, 2017 the session may be cancelled and all participants fully refunded or given the option to select another week. Please contact registration@annarborultimate.org if you need help or have questions.

Waitlist

If the player limit of the camp is reached, subsequent registrants will automatically be placed on the waitlist without notification. From the waitlist you can ask for a refund at any time. Otherwise your child will get added when a space opens up, and we will let you know they are in by email. If the camp is full and your child is interested in playing, please sign up anyways so we can quickly add them from the waitlist and gauge demand for future programs. If we do not have space in the end, you will get a full refund.

Most of all, have fun! Any questions, comments, or concerns can be directed to Sam Greenwood, youth@annarborultimate.org or to Ann Arbor Ultimate directors, directors@annarborultimate.org.
